What Is Hydrodissection?
Hydrodissection is an advanced, ultrasound-guided procedure used to treat nerve compression and irritation. Using precise imaging, fluid is carefully injected around the affected nerve to gently separate it from surrounding scar tissue, fascia, or structures that may be causing entrapment.
What Does Hydrodissection Do?
By releasing pressure around the nerve, hydrodissection helps restore normal nerve movement and blood flow while reducing inflammation and mechanical irritation. This targeted approach allows for accurate treatment of the nerve without damaging surrounding tissues.
How Hydrodissection Improves Sensation and Mobility
In patients with conditions such as drop foot and peripheral neuropathy, nerve compression can interfere with proper nerve signaling, leading to weakness, numbness, pain, and impaired mobility. Hydrodissection reduces nerve entrapment, which may improve nerve conduction, increase sensation, decrease pain, and enhance muscle activation. As nerve function improves, patients often experience better balance, improved gait, and increased overall mobility.
